Top Workout Tips to Help You Get in Shape

Posted on July 19th, 2008 in Fitness | No Comments »

Whether you are just about to embark on a health and fitness program to get in shape or whether you are a health nut who cannot live without a daily jog along the beach, here are some tips that will help you get the most out of your workouts.

Warm Up

Before you begin your workout, you need to warm your muscles and slowly speed up your heart. Starting your workout with low intensity and gradually raising it is the best way to do this. Get the blood flowing through your body by taking a short walk, marching in place or moving through a few basic exercises without intense effort.

Stretch

After you have warmed your muscles by getting the blood pumping with mild exercise, do some stretches to prepare your muscles for the hard work through which you are about to put them. Flexibility during a workout is imperative to reducing the chance of strain or injury. Stretching after a workout releases the lactic acids that build up during exercise and reduces muscle soreness afterwards.

Time Your Exercise

Effective workouts require the ability to time your exercise. Rushing through a toning or strengthening workout is always a bad idea as your muscles need time to prepare and recuperate. A good way to get the timing down is to count. Count “one and two” as you contract, hold for a count of two at the top of your contraction and count again as you release. Pause for a count of two before doing the next repetition. Between sets, you should rest your muscles for at least 30 seconds.

Breathe Properly

The first response to someone when they say “breathe” is usually a smirk. Of course we are going to breathe! But the truth is, without proper discipline, most of us don’t breathe correctly and this is true especially during a workout. Exhale as you tighten or contract and inhale as you lower.

If doing cardio, take the time to notice your breathing. If it is rapid, slow down. If you are holding your breath, as many of us do without realizing it, exhale slowly and start breathing in a rhythmic manner. Take in a few deep breaths every little while to keep your oxygen levels up and your heart pumping the way it should. A good rule of thumb is that if you can’t hold a conversation due to heavy breathing, you need to slow down.

Health Benefits of Swimming

Posted on June 6th, 2008 in Fitness, Informative | No Comments »

Swimming is one of my favorite sports and what i think is that swimming is a sport of a lifetime that benefits the whole body and along with that its fun as well especially in summers. it provides an excellent cardiovascular workout and apart from that it also tones the body. When i learned swimming, my trainer told me that if you do it regularly it can produce marvelous results when it comes to health and fitness and i think he was absolutely right.

There are so many benefits of swimming that we cant even count. The reason i started swimming was because of my short height and after that i did swimming for almost 2 years and the results were excellent. What i want to say is that swimming do increase your height. Although genes determine your height but what i think that it do effect your height as you are constantly stretching your arms and legs and when you do it for a long time, you are stretching your body out like dough. that’s why swimmers tend to have long bodies. Some people do believe that it do not but i dont know about others, it increased my height from 5′2 to 5′5.

How do I get rid of ToothAche

Posted on May 27th, 2008 in Fitness | No Comments »

A toothache is an aching pain in or around a tooth. Mostly the toothaches are caused by problems in the tooth or jaw, such as cavities, gum disease, the emergence of wisdom teeth, a cracked tooth, infected dental pulp, jaw disease, or exposed tooth root. Causes of a toothache may also be a symptom of diseases of the heart, such as angina or a myocardial infarction, due to referred pain.I’d say toothache is a pretty common type of pain that we all face sometime in our lives. We keep wondering how the hell do we get rid of the Toothache without seeing a Doctor. A temporary solution to all this would be some sort of pain medications and antibiotics.

Now, first thing first schedule an appointment with a dentist as soon as your toothache turns from twinge to pain because it only gets worse. Most home toothache remedies are aimed at getting rid of toothache pain but unfortunate they don’t solve the problem from the root of the toothache.
Try to stay away from the food that can make your toothache worse. This may include hot and cold food, along with the type that has a lot of sugar and spices.

Another great tip that I found on Ehow.com is that you need to

  • Mix together 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of alum. Pack the mixture of salt and alum around and in the tooth. This should give quick pain relief.
  • Place several drops of vanilla extract onto the affected tooth.
  • Place a somewhat small piece of garlic clove directly into the cavity of the tooth.
  • Soak a cotton ball in oil of cloves and apply it over the affected tooth
  • Onion is an effective remedy for treating toothache because of its antibacterial properties. Chewing raw onions for approximately 3 minutes can kill all the germs in your mouth and can prevent tooth disorders.
  • A pinch of pepper powder and a quarter teaspoon of common salt is also an excellent remedy as it prevents dental cavities, foul breath, bleeding from the gums, painful gums, and toothaches.
  • Lime is a rich source of vitamin C the health of the teeth and other bones of the body.

Warning : Do not use any of the suggestions listed if you are allergic to any of the ingredients

We would still suggest that you see a doctor asap and get rid of the toothache once and for all.

We all want to stay young all our lives but there is hardly anyone who would do anything to stay energetic. You can do it by giving yourself some time and by taking care of yourself. This means eating healthy, exercising productively, and minimizing vice. When I say healthy it means eat healthy food.

1. Avoid Junk Food

Our biggest issue with health is Junk food. We need to cut it out of our diet completely because Junk food is merely salt, sugar, empty calories, and an assortment of artificial chemicals. Once you break the addiction and become accustomed to healthy snacks you won’t miss the junk.

2. Eat Healthy and Lightly

Majority of our population spend the day working at a desk and so they dont move much around to buy any calories. In result they dont eat enough food. You need to take your meal regularly and properly. Some people eat to live and some live to eat but it’s been said “Thou shouldst eat to live, not live to eat”. You can always consult an expert to schedule a routine for you.
