Since I’m new to bodybuilding and like almost every other newbie at the GYM I have this stupid pain in my left shoulder. Because of that I’m not able to do any important exercise anymore. In fact I have not lifted any weight for the past 3 days. So I decided to look for more information regarding this on the internet and learned what really causes this pain. First of all
1. Too much pressure on One muscle
It is really not that best idea on work on just one particular muscle all the time. Doesn’t matter if its weight lifting or Push ups/Chin ups. People usually do push ups and chin ups for warm up but I would not that its well suited for total beginners. Even if you’re doing it everyday try to keep the number of sets and repetition to not more than 3. Meaning do 5 push ups with good form and do 3 sets. This is actually what a certified trainer told me.
2. Bad Posture
One of the most important thing is to prevent your shoulder-blades to tilt back when raising your arms. Good posture is what you need to work on.
3. Bad Technique
Benching with your elbows out gives your chest muscles a better stretch, but is terrible on your shoulders. Especially with heavy weights. The right way is to keep your elbows close to your body.
4. Bad schedules
It really is a bad idea to neglect to train your back muscles while working on bench pressing all the time. This causes imbalances over time.
Even if you are going to work out at home please do take professional’s help at first and continue with your work out at home. I’m going to start my training with a hired personal trainer and will let you know what becomes of my Shoulder pain. He definitely said good things about it and considered it quiet normal.
