Swimming is one of my favorite sports and what i think is that swimming is a sport of a lifetime that benefits the whole body and along with that its fun as well especially in summers. it provides an excellent cardiovascular workout and apart from that it also tones the body. When i learned swimming, my trainer told me that if you do it regularly it can produce marvelous results when it comes to health and fitness and i think he was absolutely right.
There are so many benefits of swimming that we cant even count. The reason i started swimming was because of my short height and after that i did swimming for almost 2 years and the results were excellent. What i want to say is that swimming do increase your height. Although genes determine your height but what i think that it do effect your height as you are constantly stretching your arms and legs and when you do it for a long time, you are stretching your body out like dough. that’s why swimmers tend to have long bodies. Some people do believe that it do not but i dont know about others, it increased my height from 5′2 to 5′5.
Swimming regularly builds your body muscles strength, endurance and cardiovascular fitness. It gradually increases your heart rate and stimulate muscle activity. It also enhances the flexibility of your joints and provides the scope for boosting your physical activity workout level, thus helping a great deal in your weight loss program. You can even do swimming after running or jogging because it cools down your body and move blood through your muscles to help them recover, and help you relax after land exercise.
One can use swimming to lose weight as well as it burns alot of calories. It burns calories at a rate of about 3 calories a mile per pound of bodyweight. For example, if your weight is 150 lbs and it take around 30 mins to complete one mile, then you can expect to lose 900 calories in one hour. Although everyone cannot swim alot but it tells you how much calories it can burn.
It can also relieve your mind from stress and tension, fueling your energy levels. It ensures the well being of your heart and lungs and increases your stamina. And the last thing i know about this sport it that it minimizes the risk of injuries :).
